    Hello!

I am wondering if there are other K teachers who are spending hours and hours to prep? When our class size increased the work load also increased.
Teaching very young students requires such preparation…tracing, cutting, tearing out and assembling…more parents contacts. 32 five year olds must have the teacher’s full attention. Certainly all teachers need this time, but as a teacher who has taught higher grades, I now see how much is required of K teachers that I was not aware of in the past. I would like this looked at again. 50 minutes is just not enough time. All teachers need prep time at all grade level, I know.
I would invite teachers from higher grades to spend two days in a Kinder classroom. Especially to see the prep time needed for the second day.

I totally agree with you! I teach 1st grade we need prep time as well. These demands are impossible to keep!! Law Suite!! At my site, someone thought that it was a good idea for teachers to skip morning and afternoon breaks. Yes, we are required to ask another teacher to watch our students while we rush off to the restroom and return in 5 minutes to start yard duty. The same for the afternoon. On top of that we are required to walk our students to lunch and stand in the lunch line until our students are in the building! I have never gotten my full lunch break! Do more with less or until we die. We also have no computers for any of our students and the library is closed. How scores, how?

How do I donate 1 day of sick leave to the teachers fund?
