Outrageous!

Last Wednesday, the school board agreed to send out pink slip to 190 of our unit members. Imagine our surprise when we received in our district e-mail this morning a posting for a brand new administrative position! The district continues to advertise for Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Student Support at the starting salary of $148,825 a year and now they are advertising for Assistant Director of Elementary Education with a salary range of $86,453 to $91,853.

How many teaching positions would these two positions pay for? It is amazing to that the district seems to have plenty of money to pay for more administrative positions but no money to keep teachers in the classroom.

This song really went perfectly with how most of us are feeling–who is the singer?? I must have it!

The Dixie Chicks are the ones doing the singing the song “Not Ready to Make Nice.” The song can be found on their album titled TAKING THE LONG WAY (or also on iTunes, I’d imagine).

I think it’s time, if not long overdue, that we work to rule.
Let them dock us two hours if we don’t make it back for a science fair or an open house come this spring. Let the parents see what an empty parking looks like minutes before school and minutes after. We need to turn these schools into ghost-towns. Really, it’d be a lot like the district office on Mare Island is after 12 noon on a Friday.

I’m a tax payer and a product of the Vallejo school system. I can’t believe why a huge chunk of tax payer dollars pays administrators and consultants…no wonder government goes broke because of it, yet the real workers are teachers, dmv people, secretaries, road workers, garbage man, etc….

you only need a group of leaders to lead the real workers….not a party of leaders! stretch your leadership delegation to the bottom…that saves the hiring of more pricey admins!

If I was on School Board, we don’t need some admin who don’t contribute to the success of vallejo kids…keep the best people who really care about vallejo’s kids….I would go straight to Sacramento and tell State Superintendent Jack O’ Connell and the Senate Education Committee to terminate the “Damelio Administration” because it can save tax payers millions of dollars!
